The 3 P’s of health and safety
Practical insight from Matrix Business Consulting.
Matrix frames health and safety through three connected parts: paperwork, process, and psychology.
Paperwork
Paperwork forms the base. It includes policies, risk assessments, reports, procedures, and records. Without it, there is no clear evidence of the system.
Process
Process is what turns paperwork into action. People need to understand how forms, controls, inductions, toolbox meetings, and competency checks work together in practice.
Psychology
Psychology is what happens when people stay engaged with the system often enough that safety becomes more visible in their thinking. The more safety is discussed and used, the more alert people become to hazards, behaviours, and warning signs.
When all three are active at once, the workplace becomes more aware, more organised, and less reliant on luck.
